The Creativity Project edited by Colby Sharp

Colby Sharp had 44 children's book authors to write prompts.  He then had each author respond to a prompt from another author.  Some prompts were just pictures, some were beginnings of stories, and at the end are just prompts for writing with no responses.  GREAT book for inspiring creativity in writing.

A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa Sheinmel

Hannah Gold is in a mental institute.  She doesn't really understand why.  She didn't do anything.  They were just playing a game....

Agnes, her roommate for the summer,   fell out their two story window and is in critical condition.  Hannah is so worried about Agnes, but she notices on her paperwork it says she "may be a danger to herself and others."  As she goes through the "program" she starts to remember things about the summer, what happened, and eventually realizes what was real and what was not.

Unreliable narrator like They Were Liars by E. Lockhart.  Mental illness topic like Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman.

High School recommend.

Winterhouse and The Secrets of Winterhouse by Ben Guterson

Elizabeth is an orphan.  She lives with her aunt and uncle.  As she gets home one day after school there is a note on the door telling her that they have gone on a trip without her and she will be spending Christmas break at Winterhouse Resort by herself for 3 weeks.  As she travels there she notices some strange characters who actually are on their way to Winterhouse.  Once there she meets Norbridge Falls, the owner, Freddy, who is her age and there without his parents as well, and other vacationers.  Elizabeth gets strange feelings before strange things happen, and she begins lots of strange feelings as her vacation continues.  She finds a book in the resort's library and the strange people she traveled with are after the book too, although she doesn't know it until almost the end.  Great book for puzzles, word games, and figuring things out.  Highly recommend!

The Darkdeep by Ally Condie and Brendan Reichs

Nico and his friends, Emma and Tyler are out testing out Nico's drone he built when Logan, a bully, and Opal and 2 others show up on 4 wheelers.  Logan sends Nico's drone into the mist of Still Cove and it's lost.  Nico decides to go try to find it and ends up going over the edge into the mist.  Opal feels bad and comes back to help.  As the four try to find the drone they discover an island with a houseboat in the middle of it.  At the bottom of the houseboat is a well, that is so dark and weird they call it "The Darkdeep".  Emma gets sucked in by the water and it spits her out in the pond.  What happens next is even weirder.  They see a "figment" and discover that as each one of them goes into the darkdeep it "scans" them and creates a figment, but then things get out of control and the figments become more real and the kids don't know how to stop it.

Super fun read...keeps you reading and reminds me of Stranger Things upside down.
